6 May 2025 | News

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, citing the leadership of the country’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

On April 29, 2025, Iran and Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at developing the transit potential of the Shahid Rajaee port in the Bandar Abbas port area. Within 30 days, the Kazakh side must submit a business plan for establishing its own terminal and logistics center in the allocated coastal zone of the port. After the plan is reviewed by the PMO’s executive board, an investment contract will be signed.

Kazakhstan plans to use the terminal both for shipping its own cargo by sea and for attracting transit cargo from Central Asian countries. The agreement is part of Kazakhstan’s efforts to support foreign investment and may serve as a starting point for broader cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transport and logistics.
