A vessel belonging to one of the leading carriers, headquartered in Singapore, has set another record for container loading. 22,233 TEU were loaded onto ONE Innovation. This is the highest number ever recorded on any container ship.
As Ocean Network Express announced on social media, the vessel departed from Singapore on August 29 and is currently en route to the UK port of Felixstowe on the FE4 shipping route. It is scheduled to arrive on October 3, and the carrier encourages people to watch the arrival of its “record breaker.”
ONE Innovation (IMO: 9939137) is one of the company’s newest fleet additions, introduced in 2023. The container ship has a capacity of 24,136 TEU and measures almost 400 meters in length and 61 meters in width. It sails under the Liberian flag. Despite its size, the vessel is said to stand out for significantly lower CO2 emissions thanks to a specially designed hull aimed at maximizing cargo intake and minimizing fuel consumption. It is also equipped with a modern exhaust gas cleaning system to comply with IMO regulations on CO2 reduction, in line with the global trend toward decarbonizing shipping.
The Japanese carrier, now headquartered in Singapore, also recalls that this is not the company’s only recent record. In October last year, ONE Infinity (IMO: 9933004) entered the Guinness World Records after being loaded with 22,206 full containers. Although ONE has not confirmed whether the same applies to ONE Innovation, sharing news of the new record suggests that these figures may need to be updated.
