European products on their way to Henan Province! For the first time, a train carrying goods to China has departed along the New Silk Road from the PKP CARGO CONNECT terminal in Warsaw. These are products originating from Europe, including Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, and Latvia. Among them are custom-made furniture, playground accessories, ski equipment, and footwear. This connection opens new opportunities for Poland’s economic development and strengthens the position of the PKP CARGO Group in international logistics chains.
“Today’s event demonstrates the enormous potential of international cooperation. Joint infrastructure projects, such as this one between PKP CARGO CONNECT and Chinese partners, have a real impact on the economy, attract investors, and strengthen Poland’s position on the map of global trade,” said Marshal Adam Struzik.
Containers can carry a wide range of goods. On this route, items such as custom-made furniture, ski equipment, footwear, and playground equipment will be transported. The list of goods is open – any product that fits in a container and complies with sanction regulations can be shipped from Poland to China in this way. This is the first pilot train, paving the way for PKP CARGO CONNECT in this direction. Two more trains are planned for the coming weeks. If the project proves successful and demand is sufficient, further shipments on this route will follow.
“This is a very special day for us, as 10 years ago we began cooperation with the ZIH Group, jointly organizing container transport from China to Poland. In 2016, in this very place, we welcomed the first freight train. Today, after so many years, we are jointly shaping the future of cooperation between our companies, sending European products – including those made in Poland – to China. I believe this marks another stage in the fruitful development of our joint business projects,” said Piotr Sadza, CEO of PKP CARGO CONNECT.
