The first container train from Chongqing to Budapest was dispatched on 30 November 2025 as part of the launch of regular freight services from this major Chinese industrial hub to Europe. The new service will be the second one following the establishment of regular transport on the Chongqing–Duisburg route.
After crossing the Alashankou–Dostyk border checkpoint, the train will pass through Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and after about 11 days it will arrive at a major transport and logistics hub in the Hungarian capital, serving Central and Eastern Europe. The introduction of regular services on the new route will reduce cargo transit time between the endpoints by approximately 30% compared to other delivery methods.
Currently, regular freight services between China and Europe cover 232 cities in 26 European countries, and the total number of trains dispatched since the introduction of these services has exceeded 120,000.
