Port of Gdynia Joins the New MSC Britannia Ocean Service

11 April 2025 | News

The Port of Gdynia has been officially included in the network of connections within the new Britannia service, operated by MSC – Mediterranean Shipping Company. This is a direct deep-sea connection between Asia and Northern Europe, covering key ports such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Vung Tau, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, and Liverpool.

On Wednesday, April 9th, the vessel MSC ROSE (364 meters long, 15,294 TEU) called at Gdynia – the first ship under the Britannia service. The vessel will remain at the quay until Saturday.

The inclusion of the Port of Gdynia in one of MSC’s major ocean services is the result of long-term efforts and a testament to Gdynia’s growing role in the global supply chain. For the shipping line, this is a strategic decision – and for the port and its business partners, it presents an opportunity to:

• increase cargo handling, especially exports,

• strengthen Gdynia’s position as a deep-water port,

• boost the development of the Outer Port and intermodal infrastructure,

• support the strategy of diversifying Poland’s access to overseas markets.

The arrival of the Britannia service in Gdynia marks another step in strengthening our position as a modern, competitive port on the Baltic Sea.
