25 June 2025 | News

In early June 2025, the first stage of a 19-hectare container terminal complex with a projected annual capacity of 240,000 TEU was commissioned at the Kazakh port of Aktau. This Chinese-Kazakh project is being implemented in two phases and aims to increase the capacity of the International Trans-Caspian Transport Route (TITR).

The first phase covers an area of 9.3 hectares and includes three railway tracks, where a full container handling cycle will be carried out, including customs procedures. Inspection and clearance of hazardous goods are also planned.

On June 16, 2025, Kazakh rail freight operator KTZ Express, Chinese logistics company YXE Trading Service Group, and JSC NC Aktau International Sea Trade Port signed a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement provides for the development of terminal facilities at the port, including co-financing the purchase of modern quay container cranes designed to operate in high-wind conditions.
