Second new MSC ocean service handled at quay T3
On April 21, 2025, the Baltic Hub container terminal welcomed a vessel from Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), which has added the Gdańsk terminal to another of its ocean services.
This marks the first call of a vessel under MSC’s second new service to Baltic Hub, connecting the Far East with Europe, named Albatros.
The vessel MSC MAURA, 366 meters long with a capacity of 16,464 TEU, arrived in Gdańsk following a route from Asia to Northern Europe, calling at the following ports: Xingang, Dalian, Gwangyang, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore, Felixstowe, London Gateway, Bremerhaven, and Gdańsk.
The ship was handled using state-of-the-art STS quay cranes located at the new T3 quay. Although the entire T3 terminal is still in the final phase of construction, it is already testing the handling of vessels operated by the world’s largest shipping lines.
“The launch of a second ocean service by global carrier MSC at the T3 quay in Baltic Hub is a testament to the trust our key industry partners place in us. The handling of MSC Maura at the newly developed quay signals that we are rapidly approaching the completion of the T3 investment and soon will be able to utilize the full operational capacity of the terminal,” commented Jan Van Mossevelde, CEO of Baltic Hub.
T3 Terminal – A Key Element in Baltic Hub’s Development
T3 Terminal is an infrastructure project by Baltic Hub in its final implementation phase, aimed at increasing the terminal’s operational and handling capabilities. The investment includes the construction of a new quay 717 meters long with a technical depth of 17.5 meters, storage yards covering 36 hectares, and equipping the terminal with 7 additional modern STS cranes and 20 semi-automated RMG yard cranes.
Once completed—scheduled for the end of 2025—Baltic Hub will have approximately 2.1 km of deep-water quay and over 124 hectares of operational area. This will allow the terminal to increase its annual handling capacity to 4.5 million TEU, making Baltic Hub one of the largest container complexes in Europe.
