The first train arrived at DB Cargo’s freight terminal in Aalborg, northern Denmark, loading containers onto railcars using the innovative CTS horizontal handling system implemented by the logistics company Safe Green Logistics.
The CTS horizontal container handling system was developed as part of a research project funded by the European Union. It utilizes linear loading devices with rollers and extendable guides mounted on the vehicle chassis. According to Safe Green Logistics, transferring a container from a vehicle equipped with this system to a platform is fully automated and takes just one minute. The system is designed for standard 40-foot containers.
Safe Green Logistics will begin testing the CTS system in February 2025. The company expects to establish a network of terminals for container handling in Denmark using CTS technology.
